APR/MAY Editor’s Note by Jen Theisen

This issue is dedicated to my amazing, strong, beautiful mom. If not for her, I would not be the woman I am today. There were not many days Mom got to relax and take time for herself, so cheers to you Mom along with all the other mothers out there! Happy Mother’s Day and happy spring.

Wow! Spring has sprung. There is so much to be excited about as wJene move into this new season. Only in Wisconsin can you find kids walking around in shorts in 45-degree weather. We’re pulling out our grills, hitting the trails like ants coming out of hibernation, and dusting off the garden gear. We’re embracing spring like true Wisconsinites.

The Theisen household is abuzz with lots of exciting happenings. Our oldest, Joe, will graduate from college! It seems like just last issue, I was writing about him leaving the nest. Grace’s track season is in full swing (I love track!), Hank is dribbling his way through spring basketball, and Gus is spending lots of time on the baseball diamond. Gus graduates from elementary school this spring and heads off to middle school this fall, while Quinn is gearing up for 4K. I’m simply astonished at how fast time whooshes by. You blink, and they’re grown. Let’s cherish the moments, ladies.

I love the fun this season brings, yet I find myself scratching my head every spring pondering the chaos of May that seems to rival even December. End of school year activities, sports practices and competitions, and even the celebrations of Easter, graduations, and weddings keep us running. We know so many of our readers can relate, so we’re delighted to roll out our Rejuvenate issue.

I asked several of our readers what “rejuvenate” meant to them. I didn’t hear the same answer twice. It seems we women all reenergize in our own unique way. It’s essential to our wellness to actually schedule rejuvenation time for ourselves. This time should be honored, receiving the same faithfulness we give to our work meetings or our child’s sports events.

This issue designed to help you rejuvenate. You’ll find great reads on this topic including information on local ways to find some much-needed invigoration. Read several encouraging pieces about celebrating motherhood, and learn about that all-too-often awkward topic of libido in a straightforward, informative-yet-lighthearted article. You’ll love this issue’s fab finds and everything else 5ive has to offer.

Spring is all about new beginnings. I adore an early morning spring run, watching the green fill back in, smelling the fresh new season, hearing the robins. I love the longer days, the baseball, relaxed time hanging with friends, the SUNSHINE … and did I mention how I love track season?

Ladies, let’s rejuvenate this spring and make time to enjoy all this season in the Chippewa Valley has to offer. Why not start right now? Grab your 5ive, a cup of coffee or tea, put your feet up, and reap the benefit of 30 minutes of rest.

The journey continues with faith, family, friends, fitness, and finance.
